Laos a very charming, colonial place, with amazing mountain and rice paddies scenery, beautifully decorated temples and calm, laid back people. Laos is a complete contrast to its more sophisticated neighbors like Thailand. Not so touristy, yet always welcoming newcomers. Its combination of high mountains, not so easy communications and their government policy have all prevented mass tourism retaining the feeling of being in another world in another era.
